The Hanseatic Table
The case

I had it wrong. My wife had it wrong. One of our friends called it in the first half hour and spent two courses being told she was being ridiculous. The staging in the room — the lighting, the moment they kill the music — is done by people who know what they're doing.
I was booking this from abroad for a group flying in, which usually means chaos. It was not chaos. The venue, the timings and the seating plan were confirmed in writing before I paid anything, and the producer answered on a Sunday.
Three of them, in and out of the room between courses, and not one moment of am-dram cringe. The woman playing the widow was extraordinary — she took a stupid question from my brother-in-law and turned it into the clue that cracked the whole thing. Food was better than I expected too.
